Mastering Art an ongoing facility for adults with an interest in art. Classes are loosely based around a 'foundation style' of learning where students study a range of techniques  and subject matter. There are however regular 'mainstays' which are;- life and still life drawing/painting and slide show discussion groups designed to widen the artistic knowledge base therefore help steer students in directions they would maybe otherwise not visit.I believe that if students throw themselves into different areas of study, new skills are obtained and a clearer idea of a 'personal direction' can be found. So as well as given directional study, the teaching aims to nurture and stimulate so that students can find their own artistic voice.

Previously known as 'Starting Art',' Mastering Art' has matured over the last 5 yrs into a more consistent and skilled group..some students who  had previously not used paint are now 'mastering' oil on canvas works with ease and skill. Classes are small, with students being of a wide range in age and background. Some art related experience is preferable but not essential, dedication and an open mind is crucial.

Based at Devonport Community House,in the upstairs art room, students can take the whole morning to indulge their creative urges. It is a large room with lots of natural light, fans, heaters and well equipped with easels, boards and specialist safe storage for works in progress. Paper and a few other materials are provided free as are morning tea/coffee and biscuits. We have life model sessions each term (cost included) i also carry some stock @ shop- prices or less for convenience.

Friday - 9.30am - 12.30am -   cost ;- $340 - per 9 week term.
